Fall Trout Stockings Announced In Montgomery County Area
Autumn is in full swing, and local waters brim with October trout.

As brilliant orange and yellow leaves begin to coat the surface of autumnal pools around the region, the beasts which lurk below begin to multiply.
In other words: it’s fall trout stocking season, and the Montgomery County area has no shortage of picturesque waters brimming with the powerful fish.
Here is the fall trout stocking information for several creeks in the area:

Montgomery County
- Pennypack Creek at Lorimer Park - 10/7
- Deep Creek Lake at Green Lane Park - 11/18
Chester County

- East Branch Brandywine Creek from Dorlin Mill Rd to Dowlin Forge Rd (near Marsh Creek Park) - 10/1
Bucks County
- East Branch of the Perkiomen Creek from Branch Road bridge to Mill Creek confluence - 10/1
Most of the stockings in these waters will be rainbow trout.
“Small spinners like a Rooster Tail or Mepps, or small jigs like Trout Magnets (fished with or without a float) are top lures, while Power Baits, red worms, garden worms and small minnows are also effective,” says Wayne Heinze, a local angler who has been fishing area waters for several decades.
Trout should be fishable in these creeks even as the first freezing temperatures set in at the dawn of winter.
