Icy Conditions Lead To Speed Limit Reductions On 309

Treacherous conditions on roadways around the Montgomery County area has led to speed limit reductions, including on portions of Route 309.

The speed limit in 309's northbound lanes, from its start through to the I-78 East exit for Bethlehem, has been reduced to 45 miles per hour, officials said.

Southbound, the speed limit has been reduced to 45 miles per hour along the same stretch.

Similar reductions to 45 miles per hour are in place elsewhere in the region, such as on portions of US 422.

School districts and many public institutions shut down early Monday as freezing rain and sleet laid a dangerous cover of ice over area roads.
