Labor Day 2018: What's Open, Closed Around Abington

Here's a check on what will be open and closed for the holiday locally on Monday, Sept. 3.

ABINGTON, PA -- Unfortunately, the unofficial end of summer is approaching. The Labor Day holiday weekend cookouts might provide some consolation even as leaves already are falling, but be aware that some services and organizations will shut down for the holiday.

Here's what you'll find open and closed around the area on the holiday:

  • City, county, state and federal offices: Closed.
  • Public schools: Closed.
  • SEPTA: SEPTA will be operating on a modified schedule due to the Made in America festival in Philadelphia. See here for detailed changes.
  • Banks: Most are closed, but some supermarket branches will have limited hours.
  • Post offices: Closed. There will be no regular mail delivery.
  • Bars, restaurants: Open at owner's discretion.
  • State liquor stores: Stores normally open on Mondays will open at their scheduled time. All stores will close at 5 p.m.
  • Montgomery County Public Libraries: Most branches are closed for most of the weekend, including Abington's. A few select branches are open on Saturday and Sunday. See a full schedule here.
  • Montgomery County Courthouse: Closed.
