Luxury Movie Theaters Planned For Huntingdon Valley, Abington

The upscale theaters will feature power-recliner seating, a wood-fired pizza oven, and a state of the art visual experience.

HUNTINGDON VALLEY, PA -- Movie night is about to get a little more interesting in the Montgomery County area.

A pair of new luxury movie theaters are on the way to Huntingdon Valley and Abington, courtesy of Penn Cinema. The 7-screen, 700 seat theater in Huntingdon Valley is expected to open by the fall of this year in The Marketplace on 2010 County Line Road.

Developers say that the goal is to create an upscale movie experience without the feeling of a big chain.

"We are a family owned, independent movie theater," Penn Ketchum, managing partner of Penn Cinema, said in a statement. "With that being said, we provide an experience for our customers that is absolutely world class. We employ only the best staff and are passionate about providing a clean and safe environment in which an audience can get lost in movie magic. When you turn off of County Line Road and walk into Penn Cinema, we want you to feel like you are walking into one of the nicest theaters in the world."

The goal is to open the Abington theater by 2019, though plans have not been finalized.

The new theaters will feature amenities like power-recliner seating, a wood-fired pizza oven, and state of the art visual experience.

The company said that they are also considering a full service bar in Huntingdon Valley, with plans being "discussed and reviewed."

“Penn Cinema is committed to the community movie theater and is constantly moving that experience forward,”Brian Regli, Managing Partner of New Century Associates, which serves as
property owner for the new Penn Cinema, said in a statement. “Our goal has always been to design a more intimate, family oriented space, one that is easily accessible and offers unparalleled comfort for visitors to our center."

Penn Cinema, founded in 2006, already has two locations, one in Wilmington and one in Lititz, Lancaster County.
