Major New CHOP Expansion Opens In Abington

The 37,000 square foot facility, one of multiple points of growth for CHOP in Montgomery County, is now open.

ABINGTON, PA — A major expansion for the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia is now open, officials announced Monday. It is one of multiple new points of growth for CHOP in Montgomery County, as they are also significantly expanding their presence in King of Prussia.

The 37,000 square foot Abington facility is a specialty care center featuring 28 exam rooms, audiology, speech therapy, radiology, and EEG services.

“With our Specialty Care Center in Abington, we aim to meet the needs of the growing patient population in Montgomery County, providing families a full range of specialty care services and features such as plentiful parking to make their experience as hassle-free as possible," Michael J. Drnach, the assistant vice president of CHOP's Specialty Care Network, said in a statement.

The complex is located at the intersection of Old York Road and Susquehanna Road, the heart of the greater Abington area. CHOP said they're planning an to add another 10,000 square feet of the facility for clinical programs in the future.

The Center offers outpatient services like cardiology, nutrition, orthopedics, pulmonology, opthalmology, endocrinology and diabetes, gastroenterology, neurology, and more.

Starting this summer, the facility will also provide after-hours urgent care children and teens with mild and moderate illnesses or injuries, which do not require the resources of an emergency room.

This is the fifth CHOP facility in Montgomery County. The new King of Prussia CHOP hospital will open this fall.
