Montco's Congresswoman Dean Named Manager Of Trump Impeachment
"Our solemn duty": Madeleine Dean is taking on a major role in the proceedings against President Trump.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — Montgomery County's U.S. Rep. Madeleine Dean (D-4) was named a manager of President Trump's impeachment trial by Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, a major role for the local Congresswoman who has seen national exposure in recent days as she calls for Trump's removal.
As the chaos from the mob attack at the U.S. Capitol last week cleared, Dean was among the early voices pushing to remove Trump from office. Like other Democrats and some Republicans, she said Trump was directly responsible for the insurrection, and that he incited violence through his words.
"I am honored to serve as an impeachment manager among my esteemed colleagues — it is for the sake of our country, not hate of one man or anyone, but for the love of our country and constitution," Dean said late Tuesday night, following Pelosi's announcement of her appointment.

As the nation braces following threats more of violence both in D.C. and state capitols nationwide, the House of Representatives looks to have well more than the majority it needs to impeach Trump for a second time. No president has ever been impeached twice.

The House of Representatives is expected to vote on the resolution Wednesday afternoon. While the impeachment trial would likely not be completed before Trump leaves office and Joe Biden is inaugurated as the next president on Jan. 20, impeachment could still be used to prevent Trump from regaining the office down the line. He has previously hinted that he could run again in 2024.
Once approved by the House, the Senate would then need to vote on the measure. At least 17 Republicans would need to join Democrats in condemning Trump to impeach him.
Days after the bloodshed at the Capitol which left five people dead, including a Capitol police officer, the nation and members of Congress remain in a state of shock.
"Never would I have thought that I would be sitting on the House floor when domestic terrorists surrounded the chambers — motivated and infected by dangerous lies — seeking to assassinate a Speaker, hang a Vice President, and hunt down members of Congress, staff, and reporters," Dean said.
Dean has gained national exposure in recent days, including an interview on MSNBC which she did from the front seat of a pulled-over sports car.
Dean, who along with her House colleagues sheltered in place and then was evacuated during the riots, is among nine individuals chosen by Pelosi as impeachment managers.
