PENNSYLVANIA — Mother’s Day is this weekend, which means families in southeastern Pennsylvania and across the state will be making plans to spoil Mom with flowers, gifts, picnics and family outings.

But before you make those plans, it’s always a good idea to check what Mother Nature has in store for the day.

In some parts of the United States, including the Philadelphia area, Mother’s Day plans may be hampered by rain, according to The Old Farmer’s Almanac.

A high of 61 and a low of 52 is forecasted for Sunday around southeastern Pennsylvania, with intermittent rain likely. Expect partly cloudy skies early "followed by increasing clouds with showers developing later in the day," Old Farmer's Almanac says.

The National Weather Service concurs, saying there's a chance of rain after 2 p.m. Before then, expect partly sunny skies, with a high near 62. There is a 40 percent chance of precipitation on Sunday.

If you're celebrating early, be aware that Saturday is expected to be rainy at times. There's a chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 11 a.m. The chance of precipitation Saturday is 50 percent.

Saturday: A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 11 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 55. Calm wind becoming north around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 42. West wind around 5 mph.

Sunday: A chance of rain after 2 pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 62. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Sunday Night: Rain likely, mainly after 8 pm. Cloudy, with a low around 49. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Monday: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 66. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent.
