PA Aggressive Driving Campaign To Run Through Aug. 22
PennDOT announced more than 80 local police agencies in the region will target aggressive drivers through a statewide traffic campaign.
SOUTHEASTERN PENNSYLVANIA — Motorists in Southeastern Pennsylvania can expect to encounter extra traffic enforcement after the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced that it had recently kicked off its statewide aggressive driving campaign.
More than 80 local police agencies from across the region will participate in the campaign, which is designed to target aggressive driving infractions such as tailgating, red light running, pedestrian safety and truck violations, PennDOT announced in a July 5 press release.
The targeted campaign will run through Aug. 22.

"Law enforcement will use traffic enforcement zones, saturation patrols, speed enforcement details, corridor enforcement, work zone enforcement, and multi-jurisdictional patrol strategies to identify and cite aggressive drivers,” the press release states.
The campaign is part of PennDOT’s Aggressive Driving Enforcement and Education Project, and is funded by part of the agency’s investment of federal funds from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

More than 30 municipal police departments from throughout Montgomery County will participate in the targeted enforcement campaign.
PennDOT offers on its website a set of tips to motorists who may come into contact with an aggressive driver while traveling on Pennsylvania roads. Among those are to:
- Get out of the aggressive driver’s way and don’t challenge them
- Stay calm, avoid making eye contact with the other drive and ignore any rude gestures the aggressive driver may make
- Stay out of the passing lane if you are driving slower than the general speed of traffic
- Do not try to follow or pursue the aggressive driver, but instead pull over to a safe spot and call police to report the other motorist

Cheltenham Township
Collegeville Borough
Conshohocken Borough
Douglas Township
Franconia Township
Hatfield Township
Jenkintown Borough
Limerick Township
Lower Merion Township
Lower Moreland Township
Lower Pottsgrove Township
Lower Providence Towship
Montgomery Township
New Hanover Township
Norristown Borough
Plymouth Township
Pottstown Borough
Royersford Borough
Towamencin Township
Upper Dublin Township
Upper Merion Township
Upper Moreland Township
Upper Pottsgrove Township
Upper Providence Township
West Conshohocken Borough
West Norriton Towship
West Pottsgrove Township
Whitemarsh Township
Whitpain Township
Philadelphia, as well as the neighboring suburban counties, will also participate in the campaign.
