Pennsylvania State Wine, Liquor Stores Reopen Online Sales

Online ordering and delivery of liquor in Pennsylvania has reopened in a limited capacity, officials announced Thursday.

PENNSYLVANIA — Online ordering and delivery of liquor and wine is once again available from state stores in Pennsylvania, officials announced Thursday.

Online shopping at FineWineAndGoodSpirits.com is open in a limited capacity only: there is a reduced catalogue of about 1,000 different wines and spirits available, and only a limited number of orders will be filled each day.

The decision was made as Gov. Wolf put the entire state under a stay-at-home order Thursday, and as officials attempt to continue to mitigate any possible spread of the virus amongst state store employees.

“We believe that re-opening FineWineAndGoodSpirits.com in a controlled manner will allow us to provide access to consumers while also protecting our employees and consumers from unnecessary risk," Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board Chairman Tim Holden said in a statement.

Access to the website will be randomized so that high traffic will not overwhelm the page, officials said. Only one order per address will be fulfilled per day.

In the short term, the PLCB expects demand to exceed what they'll be able to fulfill, so they asked for patience from customers. As their fulfillment capacity increases, they plan on increasing the number of orders they accept per day.

The brick and mortar stores were closed back on March 17. The state added that they are not considering reopening the physical stores at this time.
