PHILADELPHIA, PA — With the Super Bowl right around the corner, football fans across the nation are gearing up to watch the Kansas City Chiefs take on the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.

Philadelphia fans pride themselves on their fierce gridiron fandom, and that's been recognized in a recent study that placed the City of Brotherly Love among the nation's top 10.

Philadelphia came in ninth on personal finance website WalletHub's recently released its “2020’s Best & Worst Cities For Football Fans.”

The bad news? Cross-state rival Pittsburgh was first overall, so Philly fans might not want to place too much stock in any ranking that would even consider such a slight.

Pittsburgh was followed by Boston, Massachusetts, and Dallas, Texas.

The worst city for football fans in the nation? That uninspiring honor went to Brookville, New York. The bottom five were rounded out by Valparaiso, Indiana, Providence, Rhode Island, Davidson, North Carolina, and Ithaca, New York.

Buffalo, New York, finished as the city with the lowest average ticket price for an NFL game in the country. New York City edged out Los Angeles for the city with the least-engaged NFL fans in the nation.

The ranking compared more than 240 U.S. cities with at least one college or professional football team across 21 key metrics of fan friendliness, including average ticket price, number of NFL championships and college football fan engagement.

Each relevant metric was then listed with its corresponding weight, and the cities were graded on a 100-point scale, with a score of 100 representing the best possible city for a football fan.

Here are the 10 best football cities for fans, according to WalletHub.

  1. Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania: 63.11
  2. Boston, Massachusetts: 56.15
  3. Dallas, Texas: 53.44
  4. Green Bay, Wisconsin: 53.22
