Good news: it’s not too late! Make a commitment in this new year to serve your community with Jenkintown Fire Department.
The borough is looking for volunteers to take on roles such as firefighting and fire police. There’s no prior experience needed; all training and equipment is provided at no cost.

Teenagers can participate, too. The department’s junior firefighting program starts at age 14 and gives young volunteers the experience and skills they need to become a full-fledged firefighter as an adult.
No matter what role you choose or how much time you put in, there are plenty of benefits associated with giving back as part of the fire service.

“I have been able to build my self-confidence and gain excellent experience and teamwork skills,” says firefighter Ramona Angus. “I was also able to join the EMS field, thanks to my firehouse.”
The department launched a campaign in early June of 2020 to boost their recruitment numbers. They also recently released a video featuring testimonials from current volunteers, which you can view here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IOK_vnXWdyY
“If you want to give back to your community, make lifelong friends and be part of an extended family,” says fire lieutenant Scott Smyth, “join the Jenkintown Fire Department.”
