Holocaust Play Coming To Bala Cynwyd This Month

Local homes on the Main Line, inlcuding the will be playing host to a theatrical production this weekend and the play has heavy themes. "Sheltered" tells the true story of Philadelphia's mission to Europe during World War II to rescue Jewish children from Hitler's clutches.

"Sheltered," by Alix Sobler, is being presented by the Theater Ariel at homes in Wynnewood, Bryn Mawr, Penn Wynne, and Bala Cynwyd. Theater goers will only find out the exact location of performances when they purchase tickets.

The play will have its world premier on Saturday, April 22 at 8:30 p.m.

The play is described as such:

In 1939, an ordinary American couple made an extraordinary decision. Inspired by a true story this moving work is about the rescue of children from the arms of Hitler’s Germany. Would you dare to go into a war zone to rescue others? Could you find the courage to let your child go with strangers to a strange new land?

The productions aren't actual stage productions, but are dramatic readings of the play with discussions after the reading.

Shows will be held 8:30 p.m. April 22, 7 p.m. April 23, 8:30 p.m. April 29, and 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. April 30.

Again, locations are only disclosed when tickets are purchased to uphold the homeowners privacy.
