Playgrounds And Courts Closed, Trails Open: Lower Merion Township
In an ongoing effort to keep residents safe during the pandemic, Lower Merion closed outdoor facilities and will keep its offices closed.
LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — In response to the new coronavirus and extended stay-at-home order by Gov. Tom Wolf, Lower Merion Township has closed playgrounds and more and will keep its offices closed.
According to the township, all township playgrounds, basketball courts and tennis courts are now closed to the public.
Parks and the Cynwyd Heritage trail are open, but the trail is often crowded. Trail users are urged to keep a 6-foot distance from other trail users as part of the CDC recommended social distancing policy.

While the township offices are closed, staff is conducting business by email and contact information is on the township website. Essential services, such as Police, Fire and refuse and recycling collection continue to be maintained.
Residents are urged to flatten cardboard, cans, and other materials when setting out recycling to help public works crews, who are seeing a 30 percent increase in trash and recycling collections due to residents staying home. Residents with rear yard collection are asked to place their materials at the curb to assist public works crews.

The discounted Township/County real estate tax deadline has been extended to June 1. Taxes must be paid electronically or via U.S. Mail at this time.
