Remembering Lower Merion Police Officer Sean Quinn 8 Years Later
Lower Merion Police Officer Sean Quinn died at 46 years old eight years ago Thursday from a self-inflicted gunshot.
LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — The Lower Merion Township community is remembering the loss of a police officer eight years later.
On Feb. 11, 2013, Lower Merion Police Officer Sean Quinn was found deceased in South Philadelphia.
Quinn died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was found that morning unresponsive is his personal vehicle in FDR Park located on Pattison Avenue in South Philadelphia, according to Police Superintendent Michael McGrath.

"The Lower Merion Police Department wishes to express its heartfelt condolences to Officer Quinn's family and friends and asks that they be kept in your thoughts and prayers as we all try to come to terms with this tragic event," McGrath said in a statement issued that day in 2013.
"Today we remember Lower Merion Township Police Officer Sean Quinn," Lower Merion Police said on social media Thursday. "We miss you brother."

Quinn was last seen in Ardmore at about 5:30 a.m. on that day and was to report for duty at 7 a.m.
Lower Merion and Philadelphia police searched for Quinn and eventually found his in the park.
Quinn, a Delaware County resident, was a D.A.R.E. officer and was once honored at a Philadelphia 76ers game as a "Hometown Hero." In the Lower Merion Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #28, Quinn was a member of the Memorial committee.
