7 SEPTA Police Officers Investigated After Attending DC Rally

Seven SEPTA police officers are being investigated after they reportedly attended President Donald Trump's rally on Jan. 6.

PHILADELPHIA — Authorities are investigating after SEPTA police officers reportedly were in Washington, D.C. on Jan. 6 when rioters stormed into the United States Capitol building.

Multiple outlets report seven SEPTA officers are being investigated after attending the pro-President Donald Trump rally in the nation's capital last week.

"An investigation is ongoing and will examine whether there was any illegal behavior. Investigators will also look at whether there were any violations of SEPTA’s social media policy. Results of the investigation will be shared with the FBI," SEPTA spokesperson said.

According to Action News, two members of the force who are being investigated are supervisors and five others are officers.

FOX29 reports the investigation is focused on whether the seven were involved in any illegal activity at the Capitol.

On Monday, Mayor Jim Kenney and the city are asking for tips about any city employees who may have been involved in illegal activity at the Capitol.

Additionally, Philadelphia Police Det. Jennifer Gugger detective is being investigated for potentially participating in riots at the Capitol. Five people died following the events, including a Pennsylvania man.

At least 14 Pennsylvania residents were charged in connection with Wednesday's events, and one Pennsylvania man is facing federal charges. Five people died in the riots, including a Pennsylvania man.
