Snow Emergency Declared In Lower Merion Township

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — Lower Merion Township will be under a snow emergency overnight Sunday.

Officials announced a snow emergency will go into effect at 5 p.m.

There is no word on when the emergency declaration will be lifted.

Drivers are urged to stay off township roads until they have been plowed. Major and primary roads will be plowed first. Residential secondary streets cannot be treated until storm conditions allow.

Residents are reminded to not park on township snow emergency routes, which are listed online here.

Parking is recommended in residential driveways, but those who must park on the street where parking is available on both sides of the road should only park on the even address side.

Parking in cul-de-sacs is not allowed until after road plowing is completed.

Sidewalks must be cleared, 36 inches in width, within 24 hours of the end of snowfall. Residents are asked to clear corner sidewalk ramps to the street and from around fire hydrants. Putting shoveled or plowed snow into township streets is illegal.
