Snow Emergency In Lower Merion Starts Thursday Morning

This marks the third snow emergency enacted by Lower Merion Township in two months. See what you need to know for the emergency here.

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — For the third time in two months, Lower Merion Township is enacting a snow emergency as more winter weather is forecasted for the Philadelphia region

Officials early Wednesday evening said the snow emergency will go into effect at 6 a.m. Thursday.

There is no word on when the emergency declaration will be lifted.

Drivers are urged to stay off township roads until they have been plowed. Major and primary roads will be plowed first. Residential secondary streets cannot be treated until storm conditions allow.

Parking is recommended in residential driveways, but those who must park on the street where parking is available on both sides of the road should only park on the even address side.

Parking in cul-de-sacs is not allowed until after road plowing is completed.

Sidewalks must be cleared, 36 inches in width, within 24 hours of the end of snowfall. Residents are asked to clear corner sidewalk ramps to the street and from around fire hydrants. Putting shoveled or plowed snow into township streets is illegal.

Trash and recycling collections have been suspended Thursday. Residents are asked to leave cans curbside and await details on Friday collections.

Call the Police Communication Center at 610-649-1000 to reports hazardous condition and call 911 for emergencies.
