Thousands In Lower Merion Still Powerless From Storms

More than 4,500 PECO customers in Lower Merion are still in the dark late Thursday night due to damage from Wednesday's storms.

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — More than 4,500 Lower Merion PECO customers are still powerless late Thursday night due to storms that rolled through the region Wednesday.

According to PECO, 4,662 customers in the township have lost power as of about 11:25 p.m. Thursday.

PECO's outage map shows 205 different outages across the township.

There is no word on when power will be fully restored.

According to Montgomery County, two people in Lower Merion died during the storm Wednesday afternoon.

The township said Wednesday the storm knocked down numerous trees and many roads are completely blocked.

Public Works crews and police are removing trees from road and trees on power lines will be removed as soon as it is deemed safe by PECO, the township said.

Residents are urged to stay home and stay away from any and all downed wires.
