These disposal efforts are the safest way for residents to dispose of unwanted, unneeded and expired prescription and over-the-counter medications.

In addition to decreasing the circulating drug supply, the program also helps keep water supplies safe by keeping drugs from being flushed down toilets.

Since 2010 more than 60,000 pounds of unwanted and expired medications have been collected and safely destroyed.
