Wynnewood Man Goes Above And Beyond For Friendship: Local Hero

WYNNEWOOD, PA — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. Together with Ring, we're working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories.

This submission comes from Wynnewood's Judy Bomze who nominated her son's friend Lenny Miller from the Philly Friendship Circle. Miller has formed a friendship with Bomze's son, Steven, who has a rare medical condition through the group and has remained dedicated to Steve.

He is a student

Why do you believe the nominee should be recognized or honored?
Lenny has brought joy to my son's life over many years. They share a love of music and regardless of how busy Lenny is with his young adult life, he regularly contacts Steven for a jam session. He even remained connected with Steven when he was overseas. Steven has a rare medical condition and the pandemic has halted his life and kept him from activities he loves. Because of his physical disabilities, he has a difficult time connecting in the virtual world. Lenny will facetime with Steven bringing him joy and some normalcy to his day. Lenny has facetimed with Steven when hanging out with his college friends so Steven can feel like he is a part of the group. Lenny is a treasure and I am grateful for what he does for my son. As an added bonus he is a talented musician.

What’s one thing you want everyone to know about your hero?:
Lenny is a very special and selfless person who has been a hero to our family.
He brings sunshine during what can be a dark time.
