2 Main Line-Area Natives Earn Oscar Nominations
Songwriter Benj Pasek got another nod for the song "This Is Me" and Kobe Bryant was nominated for his animated short film "Dear Basketball."

Two Main Line-area natives have been nominated for Academy Awards, one of which already has an Oscar on his mantle and the other has NBA Championship rings on his fingers.
Nominees for the 90th Academy Awards were announced early Tuesday morning, and Ardmore's Benj Pasek and Lower Merion High School alum Kobe Bryant found themselves among nominees.
Pasek, who has quite a few awards under his belt already, and his writing partner Justin Pail were nominated for Best Original Song for "This Is Me" from the P. T. Barnum-focused movie "The Greatest Showman."

The 90th Academy Awards will be held Sunday, March 4 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles with Jimmy Kimmel hosting. The ceremony beings at 8 p.m. and will air on ABC.

What?? This is beyond the realm of imagination. It means so much that the @TheAcademy deemed #DearBasketball worthy of contention. Thanks to the genius of @GlenKeanePrd & John Williams for taking my poem to this level. It's an honor to be on this team. #OscarNoms pic.twitter.com/M2joyk9D1V
