A&P Plans to Sell More Stores
Owner of Pathmark and Superfresh adjusts bankruptcy court strategy

Ailing supermarket giant A&P, which owns local grocery chains Pathmark and Superfresh, has announced a change of plans: It will sell all of its remaining stores, rather than close some of them.
According to a Newsday report, A&P, under its formal name Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co., told a U.S. Bankruptcy Court on Long Island that it will sell 153 more of its stores, in addition to the 118 for which it already received bids.
Acme already agreed to purchase 76 A&P stores, in the Philadelphia region as well as New Jersey and Delaware.
