Bryn Mawr College President's 2009 Salary Released
The Chronicle of Higher Education released a survey Monday that finds private college presidents are faring well.
Bryn Mawr College President Jane McAuliffe made $542,057 in 2009, according to a study published Monday by the Chronicle of Higher Education.
McAuliffe's base salary was $400,000, with $35,000 in bonus pay, $21,208 in other pay, $24,500 in deferred compensation and $61,349 in nontaxable benefits, according to the study.
The survey is based on 2009 federal tax returns at the 482 private, nonprofit colleges with total budgets of more than $50 million.

The highest paid at $4,912,127 was former president of Drexel University, Constantine Papadakis, who died in April 2009. Thirty-six private college presidents earned more than $1 million in 2009, compared with 33 in 2008, notes a New York Times article.
The median salary (total compensation) in 2009 for the college presidents included in the Chronicle's survey was $385,909.

In 2008, McAuliffe became 's eighth president.
Matt Gray, a spokesman for Bryn Mawr College, did not immediately return a request for comment Tuesday morning.
