Daly Angkor Finds its Footing in Bryn Mawr
The Cambodian restaurant opened on April 27.
At Daly Angkor, authenticity is king.
Owner Bory Meas was born and raised in Cambodia, steeped in its unique culinary culture, and has taken the lessons with her to Bryn Mawr.
The 845 West Lancaster Avenue restaurant has a rich menu of traditional cuisine from her home country—as well as Vietnamese and Thai dishes, all freshly prepared—and strives for decorative verisimilitude as well. The colorful paintings on the wall are each imported from Cambodia and a subsection of the dining area is situated in Cambodian fashion; colorful seating mats alongside low-slung tables.

Meas even makes her own sauce.
"In high school [in Cambodia], we learn to be a good wife. So we have to learn everything, including cooking," said the owner.

Meas came to Bryn Mawr by way of Quebec, where she owned a restaurant by the same name for 15 years before deciding it was time for a change.
"I was looking for the right location, and I found it," she said. "So far I'm happy."
She says the customers have been too. While many are unfamiliar with Cambodian food—according to its owner, Daly Angkor is the first Cambodian restaurant on the Main Line—she says the staff is able to walk diners through the menu options.
"It's similar to Thai cuisine. A lot of rice. Â A lot of vegetables, and of course we use fresh ingredients," the owner said, adding that Cambodian food tends not to be as spicy.
