Gladwyne Home Hits the Market for $24.5 Million
Linden Hill was once owned by the heir to the Campbell Soup fortune.
The 2013 U.S. Open isn't the only news making waves on the Main Line. On Monday, Linden Hill, the 20-room, 14,000-square-foot, Monk Road estate hit the market for the second time since 1989. The asking price: a whopping $24.5 million.
According to Philly.com, it isn't a coincidence that the estate was listed the day Open practice rounds began just a few miles away. Realtors John H. Dubbs and Elizabeth Morsbach Godin of Prudential Fox & Roach told the paper that the tournament will shine extra attention on the 50-acre estate, as "all eyes will be on Philadelphia."
The home was once owned by Campbell Soup heir John T. Dorrance Jr., and it looks like its next owner will have to be of similar means. According to Zillow, if a buyer were to make a 20 percent down payment on the 1543 Monk Road home and get a 30-year fixed mortgage, they would be paying just under $93,000 a month—plus taxes.Â
