Harcum College Women’s Basketball Team Wins District O Tournament
The Lady Bears are District Champs and Headed to the NJCAA National Tournament in Arkansas.
Bryn Mawr, PA- March 8, 2018 -The Harcum College Women's Basketball Team captured the NJCAA District O Championship on March 3rd making the Bears one of only 16 teams from around the nation to advance to the NJCAA National Tournament in Arkansas. To put it in perspective, there are over 130 teams in NJCAA Division II. Region XIX will be represented in the tournament by Harcum, the Region XIX Runner-Up and Union County College, the 2018 Region XIX Champion. This is only the second time in Harcum’s Women’s Basketball 14 year program history to qualify for the National Tournament.
The team’s current record is 20-13 heading into Nationals, and the bracket for the tournament will be released on Monday, March 12th. The team finished the regular season 18-12, winning 11 of their final 13 games. In Region XIX play, they finished 16-4, 3rd overall.
Jayana Ervin was named Region XIX Player of the Year and earned First Team All-Region. Shawnice Gresham earned Second Team All-Region honors. The NJCAA National Tournament will be held in Harrison, Arkansas at the Pioneer Pavilion, and all games will be livestreamed on the NJCAA website.
