Harriton Hills And Heat 5K Set For Thursday

The run will benefit Students Run Philly Style, which gives kids in the area mentors and lessons in health through running.

BRYN MAWR, PA – For the second year in a row, Harriton High School student Jacob Harris is looking to raise money for a noble cause through his Harriton Hills and Heat 5K race that is set for Thursday, Aug. 17 in Bryn Mawr.

Proceeds from Thursday's run will benefit Students Run Philly Style, which gives kids in the area mentors and lessons in health through running.

Registration for the 5k is just $25 for adults and $15 for students. Online registration ends at midnight Thursday, Aug. 17.

The run begins at 6:45 p.m. Thursday at Harriton High School, 600 N. Ithan Ave., Bryn Mawr.

The run loops through the neighborhoods of Bryn Mawr beginning and ending at Harriton High School.

Cash prizes will be given to overall male and female winners, and there will be a lottery drawing for a Garmin Forerunner 235 running watch for the first 100 registered runners who complete the race.

In keeping with the "heat" part of the run, Weather.com forecasts a high of 84 Thursday with high humidity and chances of thunderstorms.

Students Run Philly Style is a Philadelphia-based running non-profit that provides mentoring and exercise to area youth through running programs and training.
