Police: Philly Woman Attacked Clerk During Convenience Store Robbery

The suspect struck the cashier and locked her inside the restroom of a Bala Cynwyd gas station convenience store, according to reports.

A Philadelphia woman is facing multiple charges including felony robbery after allegedly striking a cashier at a Bala Cynwyd gas station convenience store and locking her in the restroom, according Main Line Media News.

Marquita Johnson, 31, of Philadelphia, has been charged with 13 counts, such as robbery, receiving stolen property, making terroristic threats, simple qassault and related charges. She has been remanded to Montgomery County prison, unable to post $50,000 cash bail, according to court records.

The report says that Johnson walked into the store located on the 200 block of Belmont Avenue in Bala Cynwyd on May 31 and asked for cigarettes after telling the clerk she had no money. The clerk denied the cigarettes, and Johnson allegedly went behind the counter and grabbed the victim by the hair. According to the report, Johnson allegedly pulled the clerk to the restroom, striking her head with a metal pot along the way.

After locking the clerk in the restroom for 10 minutes, Johnson allegedly opened the door and demanded cigarettes and cash from the register. Lower Merion police arrived on the scene during the incident and arrested Johnson, according to the report.
