Three Charged in Bryn Mawr Bank Robberies

Group of Philadelphians charged by U.S. Attorney in three bank robberies over the summer

Three Philadelphia residents were charged last week with a series of bank robberies that included two separate robberies of the same bank in Bryn Mawr.

According to an announcement from the U.S. Attorney’s office last week, David Thomas, a/k/a David Thompson, 22, Alvin Johnson, 29, and Sharae Johnson Coleman, 28, all of Philadelphia, have been brought up on charges of conspiracy and bank robbery, for a series of robberies that took place in May and June.

The defendants are accused of two different robberies of the same Wells Fargo bank at 52 North Bryn Mawr Avenue in Bryn Mawr, one on May 14 and the other on June 2. The third alleged robbery, a TD Bank at 8600 Germantown Avenue, was June 30.

The case was investigated by the Lower Merion Township Police Department, along with the FBI and Philadelphia Police Department.
