White Dog Cafe Locations to Host Pup Ice Cream Events

I scream, you scream, we all bark for ice cream! Every dog can have its day and its ice cream too as artist Jay McClellan partners With White Dog Cafe to bring his dog-friendly ice cream cart to White Dog Cafe Haverford, Wayne, and Glen Mills.

McClellan known for his vibrant paintings of dogs that hang at various White Dog Cafe locations, partnered with White Dog Cafe Glen Mills Executive Chef Mike Sesler to create dog-friendly ice cream flavors to be sold at events benefiting dogs with the monies benefiting the organization.

The flavors, peanut butter bacon, and pumpkin with treats were developed by Sesler and were taste-tested and given a paw up by pups at a local rescue! The ice creams are made with all-natural ingredients.

The ice cream cart will be at the White Dog Wayne Wednesday, July 14, and White Dog Haverford Wednesday, July 21, and White Dog Glen Mills Wednesday, August 4 from 5:30 – 7 pm as well as on August 16, for the annual Dining Out for the Dogs Event.

The ice cream cart and ice cream are a benefit preview for the upcoming August 16, 2021, Fourth Annual Dining Out for the Dogs which benefits Alpha Bravo Canine, a local organization that provides service dogs to the former military with PTSD, free of charge. Each August the White Dog Cafe locations host Dining Out for the Dogs along with WMMR’s Preston & Steve, WMMR, BEN FM, WMGK, WXTU, and The Fanatic where on-air personalities join diners for a meet, greet and eat to raise money for Alpha Bravo Canine. The average cost for a puppy to train is $30,000- $50,000 depending on the disability. Alpha Bravo Canine does not charge veterans for the training or the dog. Over the past three years, the Dining Out for the Dogs events have raised nearly $100,000 to offset the cost of training a puppy.

The cart is part of McClellan’s Benevolent Hound not-for-profit organization which “seeks to promote and provide resources, educational tools and partnership opportunities for artists to use their talents for good, and to help ensure the humane treatment of all animals. McClellan said he believes that there is tremendous power in the bond we all form with our pets, and he dedicates his time to capturing the unique essence and unconditional love dogs provide through his paintings. His dogs Honey, Lucky, and Ava Belle inspire him and his work.

At the August 16, Dining Out for the Dogs event there will be puppy-kissing booths at each location where guests can donate to cuddle and kiss one of the Alpha Bravo Canine puppies! Guests can also donate $25 and book a VIP (very important puppy) table at White Dog Cafe Haverford where they are guaranteed outdoor seating for the event with their pup (based on availability). Guests can enjoy our new signature BARC Echo cocktail with a portion of the proceeds going to Alpha Bravo Canine now through August 16, 2021. Guests who cannot attend the event, but that wish to contribute to Dining Out for the Dogs, can donate now through August 16 at the White Dog Cafe locations by adding any amount at the bottom of their meal check.

Also at this year’s event, guests can enjoy a flight of hot dogs for $35 with 100 percent of the proceeds going to Alpha Bravo Canine. The menu includes Coney Island Dog made with Green Meadow farm beef, Pa noble cheddar cheese, pickled red onions, a Southwestern Dog that includes Guacamole, chipotle aioli, cotija cheese, crispy tortillas, the White Dog with white truffle aioli, shellbark hollow goat cheese, mushroom relish or the Backyard Dog with ketchup, mustard and BBQ potato chip crumble.

Government studies estimate that 22 U.S. military veterans commit suicide every day. Alpha Bravo Canine was founded by Jennifer Green and her son Kevin who was diagnosed with PTSD/TBI after his deployments to Afghanistan. Despite the diagnosis, he was deployed again less than a year later, which amplified his symptoms. Jennifer and Kevin have made it their mission to help make a difference for veterans suffering from these mental-health-related issues. Jennifer uses her experience and knowledge as a Certified Professional Dog Trainer-Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA) and American Kennel Club-Canine Good Citizen Evaluator (AKC CGC) to raise and train dogs for veterans.
