30th St Station Flap Board Gets New Home At Railroad Museum of PA

The iconic flap board that was removed from Philly's 30th Street Station has a new home at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania.

PHILADELPHIA — Travelers were dismayed to learn that the iconic flap board at Philadelphia's 30th street Station was being removed from the transit hub. But the old board has a new home at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Ronks, Lancaster County.

According to a news release from the museum, the board showing Amtrak’s split-flip arrivals and departures is now is on exhibit at the museum.

Called the Solari board, named for its Italian manufacturer, was cleaned thoroughly and sits on a base in the museum's Rolling Stock Hall.

The board will be displayed at the museum until the developer considers if it can incorporate the board in redevelopment plans for 30th Street Station.

Because it is on loan, the Solari board will not be operational, so as not to risk damaging it in any way. The museum said it will be preserved just as it looked when it flipped for the last time at 30th Street Station on Jan. 26, 2019, its final day of operation.

The museum is located at 300 Gap Road in Ronks.
