Allens Lane Bridge Closing Through Late April 2021

PennDOT said the Allens Lane Bridge over SEPTA tracks will close for about eight months due to a bridge replacement project.

MT. AIRY, PHILADELPHIA — The Allens Lane Bridge in West Mt. Airy will be fully closed for about eight months due to a project that will replace the entire bridge, PennDOT said.

According to PennDOT, the bridge that carried Allens Lane over SEPTA’s Chestnut Hill West Regional Rail will be closed 24 hours a day, seven days a week as crews replace the bridge.

The road will close Monday, Aug. 17 and is expected to reopen Wednesday, April 21, 2021.

During the closure, Allens Lane will be detoured between South Cresheim Road and Rural Lane.

Drives will be directed to use Lincoln Drive, Wayne Avenue, Washington Avenue and Germantown Avenue. South Cresheim Road motorists will be detoured over Emlen Street.

Local traffic will be maintained up to the construction zone and pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the closure by using the pedestrian overpass at the train station.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays will occur.
