Armed Robber Hits East Mt Airy Rita's Monday: Police
Police said the man seen here robbed the store at gunpoint Monday and made off with $100.
EAST MT. AIRY, PHILADELPHIA — Police in Philadelphia are asking for help identifying a man who robbed a Rita's Water Ice store in East Mt. Airy at gunpoint Monday.
According to police, the robbery occurred Monday at about 3:10 p.m. at the Rita's at 8201 Stenton Ave.
The man came into the Rita's initially to buy something then suddenly pulled out a handgun and demanded money, police said.

The man ran from the store after getting $100, heading down Stenton Avenue toward Durham Street.
No one was hurt in the incident, police said.

The suspect was described as a black man in his late 20s or early 30s with a medium complexion, a goatee, and medium build. He was wearing a backward red baseball cap under a dark hooded sweatshirt, dark blue or gray hooded jacket, denim jeans, and red sneakers with white bottoms, police said.
He was armed with a silver-colored revolver with black grips.
