The facility has been an integral part of the Drexel University's medical school and opened in 1848.
It's closure was announced in late June and has led to groups, such as nurses unions, to protest the closure.
Financial woes were the impetus for the closing, according to officials.
An officials closing date of Sept. 6 has been set.
After the announcement, Hahnemann said Tower Health would accept medical residents from the Drexel so they can finish out their programs.
