Dunkin' Donuts Donates Equipment To Philly Soccer Club

The club got $5,000 worth of gear, including soccer balls and nets, thanks to the doughnut experts.

PHILADELPHIA – Dunkin' Donuts? More like Dunkin' "Donates" after the national doughnut retailer provided thousands of dollars in soccer equipment to a Philadelphia soccer club.

On June 11, Dunkin’ Donuts, Philadelphia Union and Good Sports Inc., teamed up to make a special $5,000 equipment donation to Philadelphia-based youth soccer organization, the Kensington Soccer Club (KSC).

Made as part of Dunkin’ Donuts "Saves for Kids Program," the $5,000 equipment donation will allow KSC to expand their "Soccer for Everyone" program, which is dedicated to ensuring that children within the greater Kensington area benefit from and are included in the soccer community through providing access to high quality, healthy, recreational programs and physical activity.

The KSC can thank Dunkin' Donuts for its 64 new soccer balls, 100 pairs of shin guards, 10 pairs of goalkeeper gloves, and 4 pop-up soccer nets.

"Dunkin' Donuts and the Philadelphia Union are helping us to bring the whole community together through our soccer programs," Jim Hardy, President of Kensington Soccer Club, said. "This donation will allow our youth to be a part of a positive, inclusive soccer community, and grow as soccer players and more importantly, as people."

The donation event was held at Talen Energy Stadium during Munchkin Fest, an inaugural youth soccer festival that drew nearly 800 attendees within the Greater Philadelphia youth soccer community. Philadelphia Union goalkeeper John McCarthy, midfielder Chris Pontius, and forward Jay Simpson were on-hand for the donation, along with representatives from Dunkin’ Donuts and the Kensington Soccer Club.

The KSC is dedicated to uniting and advancing their community with high quality soccer and youth development programs for everyone, regardless of ability to pay.
