Philly School Gets Love From Main Line Tennis Non Profit

Down the Line and Beyond Foundation is helping Philly school kids participate in after-school tennis/education clinics.

A Haverford-based tennis non profit launched a tennis and education program at a North Philadelphia School Wednesday, giving students the chance to participate in after-school tennis/education clinics.

Down the Line and Beyond Foundation, a USTA affiliated National Junior Tennis and Learning non-profit, launched the program at Bodine High School for International Affairs with Donna Clement, director of constituent services for councilman Derek Green, representatives from Philadelphia Department of Parks & Recreation, students and administrators from Bodine High School, and coaches and leaders from the Down the Line and Beyond Foundation

Down the Line brought its portable tennis courts so Bodine 8th and 9th graders, coaches, and school and community leaders can have fun testing out their tennis skills.

The foundation has already built three tennis courts in the neighborhood and will be re-surfacing two additional courts that Bodine uses.

Down the Line's Outreach Program includes after-school and summer clinics for 1,600 inner-city children in Philadelphia, while the Junior Ambassador Program continues to help students advance their skills, education, health and good character through further mentoring and training.

Down the Line aims to facilitate positive character and education development for Philadelphia-area youth through tennis, in order to maximize each child’s full potential on and off the court, and promote a community around tennis.
