Police Shoot 2 Men In West Mt Airy, Rifle And Handgun Seized

Police opened fired on two men in West Mt. Airy who were seen firing a rifle and handgun Monday night, according to police.

WEST MT. AIRY, PHILADELPHIA — Two men were shot by Philadelphia Police officers Monday night after they were seen running with firearms, according to police.

Police said the incident occurred at about 10:46 p.m. on the 300 block of Glen Echo Road in West Mt. Airy.

Officers were talking with a person about a disturbance when they heard two gunshots, took cover, saw two men coming to the home, then heard two more gunshots, police said.

Police said body camera footage suggests one officer fired about 10 shots and the men, who he said were coming toward the home while armed with a long-gun rifle and a handgun.

According to Fox 29, an 18-year-old man was shot in the leg and 23-year-old man suffered a graze wound to the face.

Both are in stable condition, police said.

Police seized the rifle and the handgun.

No police or civilians were hurt.
