JULY HIKE – Fort Washington State Park Hawk Watch to Stenton Avenue

When: Saturday, July 22, 10am

Length: 4.46 miles

Duration: 2 hours

Difficulty: Very easy. Mostly paved trails. Some unimproved trails. Some hills.

The Hike

  • Park and meet at the Fort Washington State Park Hawk Watch.
  • Hike downhill to Wissahickon Trail.
  • Travel to Valley Green Road. OUR YOUNGER AND INEXPERIENCED HIKERS CAN TURN BACK AT THIS POINT.
  • Cross over Valley Green Road. Continue to Philadelphia Cricket Club parking lot. OUR YOUNGER AND INEXPERIENCED HIKERS CAN TURN BACK AT THIS POINT.
  • Continue hiking to Stenton Avenue. Turn Back
  • Continue hiking to start point.

Please remember that a Scout is Prepared and you should bring the following:

• Clothing appropriate for the weather

• Hiking Boots or hiking shoes (no open-toed shoes, sandals, flip flops!!!)

• Daypack with contents appropriate for your rank

• Water

• Snacks

Pack 173 doesn’t hike to just hike. We always put the Outing in Scouting and try to work on some Adventures along the way. Take a look at what you can work on before and during the hike and check with your parent or Den Leader to see what you may have accomplished.
