Pine-Richland Named Top Public High School in Allegheny County
Pine-Richland was ranked the top public high school in Allegheny County.

Pine-Richland High School tops the list of public schools in Allegheny County, as reported by the State Department of Education.
PRHS earned 99.4 out of 107 points for its School Performance profile, which measures Pennsylvania System of School Assessment tests, the state-required end-of-course Keystone Exams, and the amount of growth students showed in one year as measured by the Pennsylvania Value Added Assessment System.
The rankings also indicate graduation rates, attendance, participation in Advanced Placement courses and PSAT, and advanced scores on state and industry standards-based competency assessments.

“These results show that, compared to 2012-13, the majority of our public schools are performing well even though the state has recently revised its academic standards and is transitioning to more rigorous assessments,” acting state education secretary Carolyn Dumaresq said in a news release.
72 percent of public schools statewide scored 70 or higher.
