Taxi company cites growing demand from residents and hotel officials in its request to expand service.
The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission will have a hearing today in Pittsburgh on a Yellow Cab Company of Pittsburgh request to expand service into Seven Fields, Mars and Adams Township.
Yellow Cab is seeking PUC approval to expand taxi service because of increased demand from residents and hotel operators in southern Butler County, said Jamie Campolongo, president and chief executive officer of its parent company, Pittsburgh Transportation Group.
The company also is seeking permission to serve Pine and Marshall townships, Bradford Woods and Franklin Park, according to its application.

"[Potential customers] have complained about a lack of service in the greater North Hills, especially after 5 p.m." Campolongo said. "As the largest cab operator in Western Pennsylvania, we believe we can fill that gap."
Campolongo will explain Yellow Cab's position at the public hearing today at PUC offices in Piatt Place, Downtown.
