“Of course, there are many situations where an emergency room is essential and the most
appropriate course of action. But for mild injuries and illnesses, an adult emergency room could be intimidating for young children and often are not the ideal environment for them.”
UPMC Children’s operates seven other Express Care centers in Erie, Lawrenceville, Monroeville, South Fayette, Washington, West Mifflin and Wexford. For on-site visits and to save time, there is the "Save Your Spot” option on the ChildrensPgh app, which allows families to save
their spot in line before arriving to the location.
