BROOKLINE, PA - The Allegheny County Health Department has issued a consumer alert for Las Palmas, the popular Brookline Mexican grocery known for having one of Pittsburgh's best street taco stands.

A recent inspection turned up salsa, diced tomatoes, pico, tomartillo sauce, chorizo, ham, eggs, shredded cheese and milk stored at unsafely warm temperatures. Raw meat with dripping juices stored above a melon in the meat cooling upright cooler.

Inspectors also found an infestation of flies, with the insects landing on prepped chorizo. An employee was observed putting on gloves and preparing food without washing. Inspectors found that the establishment's only operating hand sink is in the employee restroom.
