Dormont-Brookline Gas Prices: Where Are The Cheapest Fill-Ups?

Exxon, BP and Citgo among the best options.

Where to go for the cheapest gas around Dormont and Brookline? Try Exxon.

The Exxon at the intersection of West Liberty and Pioneer avenues is selling a gallon of regular unleaded for $2.47 a gallon, according to GasBuddy. Com. But four nearby locations aren’t much more expensive. Charging $2.49 a gallon are:

  • BP, West Liberty Avenue at Capital Avenue.
  • Citgo, McNeilly Road near Pearc Road.
  • Gulf, McNeilly Road at Sussex Avenue.
  • Cogo’s, Potomac and Broadway avenues.

The average price per gallon in the Pittsburgh area is $2.52, according to AAA. That’s 45 cents higher than a year ago.

The Pittsburgh average is higher than the $2.48 average across the state, which is higher than the current national average of $2.29 per gallon. In Pennsylvania, an 8-cent per gallon gas tax increase went into effect in January. The state’’s wholesale tax is 58 cents per gallon, the highest such levy in the country.
