Florida Georgia Line Tops Five Weekend Things To Do Around Dormont-Brookline
Shawn Mendes and Donnie Iris also will be playing around Pittsburgh this weekend.

DORMONT, PA - For the second week in a row, a show at the Burgettstown shed tops our five weekend things to do around town list. Last week, it was nostalgia rock with Foreigner, Cheap Trick and Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Experience; this week it’s country-pop duo Florida Georgia Line with special guest Nelly.
Florida Georgia Line made headlines last week by teaming up with Brooklyn-based pop singer Bebe Rexha for the new piano driven single “Meant to Be.” It’ll be appearing on Rexha’s new EP, but don’t feel bad for the duo of Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard, they have plenty of songs of their own.
Expect to hear hits such as “Cruise,” “This Is How We Roll,” “Dirt,” and “H.O.L.Y.” as Flordia Georgia Line brings the Smooth Tour to KeyBank Pavilion.

- Shawn Mendes with Charlie Puth, Aug. 20, 7:30 p.m., PPG Paints Arena, Uptown
Authorities might have to issue a hysterical teen girl alert for the Uptown area on Sunday. Mendes, the 19-year-old Canadian pop star, known for such hits as “Mercy,” “Treat You Better,” and “Stitches,” brings the Illuminate tour to Pittsburgh. Opening is Charlie Puth, he of “When Will I see You Again?” fame back in 2015. If you’re over the age of 17, it’s unlikely you’ve ever heard of either singer.
Shawn Mendes tickets start at $28.
- Vincentian Rocks Fundraiser, Aug. 20, 5:30 p.m., Jergel’s Rhythm Grille, Marshall
If you’re under 35, it’s unlikely you’ve ever heard of regional rock legends Joe Grushecky (a Bruce Springsteen bud) and Donnie Iris (“Ah! Leah,” “Love Is Like a Rock.”) They’ll be appearing with national recording artist Vanessa Campagna for a fun night of music benefiting the Vincentian senior communities - Vinccentian Home, Vincentian de Marillac and Vincentian Marian Manor.
Vincentian Rocks tickets are $30.
- Little Italy Days, Aug. 18 and 19, noon-9 p.m.; Aug 20, noon-6 p.m. Liberty Avenue, Bloomfield.
The 15th annual Little Italy Days will transform Bloomfield’s main thoroughfare, Liberty Avenue, into a destination sport for Italian-themed entertainment and food. Weekend performers include the Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons tribute band The Jersey 4, Italian oper singer Marco Fiorante and, of course, Pittsburgh Elvis impersonator Randy Galioto.
Admission to Little Italy Days is free, but you’re sure to spend money on some incredible Italian food.
- Fidget Spinner Golf Challenge, Saturday, noon, Scally’s Golf Center, Moon
This event benefits the Pittsburgh Youth Golf Foundation's autism and special needs golf programs. Participants will have three chances to hit a 200-plus yard drive through one of the fidget spinner's three holes. Activities also include giant corn hole golf and a putting contest. All participants receive a free round of mini golf at Scally's and a free round of golf at Stone Crest. First 150 participants receive a free fidget spinner.
Fidget Spinner Golf Challenge admission starts at $10.
