Keystone Oaks Students Can Get Free Backpacks, School Supplies

The South Hills Interfaith Movement is providing the backpacks and supplies to students regardless of their family income level.

DORMONT, PA - Any parents of school-age children realize that it isn’t cheap to provide the kids with a new backpack and the supplies they need for the coming school year. So does the South Hills Interfaith Movement, which will be providing free backpacks and supplies to students in Baldwin-Whitehall and other South Hills school districts.

The organization has 700 new JanSport backpacks donated by CentiMark Corporation, a Canonsburg roof repair and replacement company, and is soliciting donations to fill them before they are given away. Among the supplies needed are new binders, pocket folders, colored pencils, pens and combination locks.

South Hills Interfaith movement will accept donations through Aug. 7 and will distribute the backpacks at three upcoming back-to-school celebrations. All K-12 students are eligible, regardless of income level, if they live in the following districts: Baldwin-Whitehall, Bethel Park, Keystone Oaks, Mt. Lebanon and Upper St.
Clair.
