Liberty Bridge Closed For Yet Another Weekend

The inbound Liberty Tunnel also will be inaccessible.

PITTSBURGH, PA - If PennDOT didn’t keep the Liberty Bridge open last weekend when hundreds of thousands of people were headed Downtown for the Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta, surely you didn’t think the bridge would be open this weekend.

PennDOT is closing the bridge and inbound Liberty Tunnel yet again, weather permitting. The closure will be in effect from 8 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for latex overlay work on the bridge. Work in the tunnel includes installation of electrical conduit, pipe hanger installation, ventilation shaft concrete removal, and concrete repair work at various cross passages.

As has become customary, the outbound Liberty Tunnel and P.J. McArdle Roadway will remain open the entire weekend. All other traffic will be detoured.
