New Parking + Four More Things on the Dormont Council Agenda

Dormont Council meets Aug. 5 at 7 p.m.

Dormont Council could vote Monday evening on an agreement to rent parking spaces from a local church.

On the Aug. 5 meeting agenda is a motion to authorize council President Bill McCartney and borough manager Jeff Naftal to execute an agreement with Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church to use 30 parking spaces on Thursday through Saturday nights at a cost of $1,000 per month, to be reimbursed by #1 Cochran, and to change out the street parking meters on West Liberty Avenue to a 12-hour maximum.

Here are four more items on the Aug. 5 agenda:

  • A public hearing will be held, and council plans to vote on Ordinance No. 1597, which amends the Zoning Code to bring the political sign ordinance into compliance with state law.
  • Council plans to award the 2013 Road Project bids to "the lowest responsive and responsible bidder," Niando Construction, at a cost of $538,324,87.
  • Council plans to vote on replacing the sliding boards at Castle Playground at a cost of $1,794.60.
  • Council plans to authorize Naftal to enter into an agreement with Town Center Associates at a cost of $8,800 to create a market analysis for the borough's business district. Half of the cost would be paid by the Main Street Committee.

Dormont Council meets Monday, Aug. 5 at 7 p.m. in the council chambers at Dormont Municipal Center on Hillsdale Avenue. The meeting agenda is attached to this article in PDF format, and also is available on the Dormont Borough website.

An audio recording of the meeting will be available on the Dormont Borough website later this week.
