Police: Teen Beaten for Internet Notoriety

The victim's basketball shoes were also stolen.

Pittsburgh police tell KDKA that a 15-year-old boy was beaten outside of the Brookline Recreation Center.

The boy was reportedly at the center to play basketball when a group of boys came up to the 15 year old and started beating him.

Officials tell KDKA they suspect they beat the boy for his basketball shoes and to gain website notoriety.

The boys were screaming the name of the website “World Star” as they approached the victim.

World Star is an urban outlet website that hosts music videos, artist information, and also posts viral videos.

The victim will reportedly be OK.

Police tell KDKA that the two teenage suspects will face aggravated assault, robbery, conspiracy and possible illegal use of communication device charges.
