Popular Parker's Restaurant Relocating

Two-year-old Dormont eatery moving next month to Brookline.

DORMONT, PA - Parker’s is picking up stakes. The popular sandwich shop and catering business is moving from its cramped quarters on Glenmore Avenue to a larger, more high-profile locale in Brookline.

“We’ll open in Brookline at the end of May,” owner Luke Parker said on Thursday. “We just needed a bigger location, and Brookline fit that bill.”

Parker’s will move to 600 Brookline Boulevard. The building, which is next to the Brookline post office, most recently housed Smoq Pitt BBQ.

Parker opened the restaurant, a block from the borough’s Potomac Avenue business district in October 2014. The space formerly was occupied by the hot dog shop Dormont Dogs, which closed in 2013.

The menu at Parker’s, which has received favorable reviews on Yelp, draws from several Pittsburgh businesses. For example, the coffee comes from Zeke’s in East Liberty and fresh pretzels and pretzel buns come from the Pretzel Shop in the South Side.

That won’t change in the new venue, but Parker does plan to expand the menu, offering a greater variety of breakfast items and additional sides to go with the sandwiches.

For Parker, the move represents a homecoming. He grew up in Brookline, and his parents still live there in the house they bought 33 years ago.

That doesn’t mean Parker isn’t bittersweet about moving the business, though.

“We gained a lot of family and friends at this location and we’ve built great relationships with the community in Dormont,” he said. “We’d like to continue those relationships but also gain new ones in the new location.”
