Potomac Avenue Reconstruction Advances
New traffic patterns are in place in the construction area.

DORMONT, PA - As the reconstruction of Potomac Avenue continues, motorists are noticing that traffic restrictions have changed in the construction zone.
On Potomac, the north side of the tracks is fully closed to vehicles from the tracks to Voelkel Avenue, township engineer Wayne McVicar said. Traffic coming from the north isn’t able to cross the tracks and will have to detour at Connecticut or Voelkel Avenues. Traffic coming from the Hillsdale side of Voelkel is permitted to make a left turn only onto Potomac Avenue. Traffic coming from the LaSalle side of Voelkel can make a right turn only onto Potomac Ave.
On Broadway Avenue, the north side of the tracks is closed at Potomac and open to local traffic only. It’s a temporary two-way street. Parking has been restricted at the Potomac end to allow local traffic to make “K” turns.

During construction, sidewalks will be left with a compacted gravel surface until pavers are installed. These sidewalk areas, although set 5 inches below the curb, are open for use by pedestrians.
The second phase of Potomac Avenue reconstruction from Espy to Voelkel began in June.
